HPV Genotyping
Human papillomavirus (HPV) has been known as the leading cause of cervical cancer in women. Among the 200 HPV types that have been identified, some of the genotypes such as HPV 16 and 18, have been considered to involve as major risk factors for cervical cancer. Besides, long-term monitoring clinical-based studies involving HPV vaccines are demonstrating the benefits of HPV DNA tests with respect to continued efficacy and cross-genotypic protection.
Our HPV Genotyping Test is a nucleic acid amplification test (real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction) for simultaneous qualitative detection of 14 high-risk HPV types from cervical swab samples. It detects the most common types of HPV genotype in Malaysia, such as HPV16, 18, 58, 33 and 52. It meets the international consensus validation metrics for HPV DNA tests for cervical cancer screening.
